Garmin Edge 800 & 605 Photo's

The first thing you notice is how much bigger the actual screen is on the 800. The 800 is shorter and a bit narrower than the 605. I have the protective silicone sleeve on the 800 so it looks a tad wider in this photo.

The 800 has the Topo 24K map card in it, the 605 has the City Navigator map card in it.

Notice the "Timer On" label on the 605? I have a tendency to forget to turn it back on after I've stopped for a break.

A couple of things I've already noticed about the 800. The mount is lame, I don't like the idea of two Orings securing the mount to the bike. That may be why there are at least 3 after market mounts out there already. The second thing is the on/off button. It's very hard to push it in far enough to feel the click before it powers up or down. Hopefully it will get easier with use.

I have high expectations on this new Edge 800, I hope it doesn't let me down.

I will be interested to hear how you get on with the 800 Paul....
I currently have the 605 and I must admit I have been more than happy with it.
Just like you I often forget to start the timer after a break and then notice it about 2-3 miles along the road.
I like your 'reminder label' idea...

Trevor, I love my 605 also, it's been a great joy to have on my rides. I wish I had a dollar for every time I forgot to turn the timer back on.

So that's a WIW bought then. Looks like a lovely bit of kit Paul. Never had the chance to play with one before. Maybe one day when I have more time to ride longer routes I'll get on.
