Well it's about freaking time! Shimano finally got their head out of their ass and came out with disc brakes for road and cyclocross bikes. Their mechanical operated, not hydraulic, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they come up with hydraulic ones. Don't forget to check out Jez Andrews Want It Wednesday here,

Don't forget these are splined fitting and not bolt on so you'd have to buy an adaptor if you don't have the right hub!! Great brakes.
Cheers for joining again Paul!

Also you would need the proper tabs on you're frame to mount the calipers. Hey, wait a minute, that means I have a reason to buy a new frame.
Love your site, follow you up.GHD Rettetang
I think you're mistaken. People have been using Shimano disc brakes for road and cyclocross for years, both hydraulic and mechanical versions. These are just new models.
PS. The word 'their' is possessive pronoun and the word 'mechanical' is an adjective. What you probably meant to say was "They're mechanically operated"
