After two days of rain it was good to get back on the bike. There was a brutal wind, left over from the rain storm,so the ride was a little tougher than normal. I ran into Barbara on the way back on Homestead, she was on her 3 mile walk.
Even with my 1 hour head start, the faster riders still caught me.
Who is that babe in the green jacket?
Our new president, answering questions for the many people at the show.
It was a little cooler than the two previous days but it still turned out to be a great day to ride. This ride is the clubs Spring Opener and the weather seems to never cooperate until this year, which was a nice surprise. There were plenty of riders and plenty of great deals at the bike show all weekend. Barbara did her own ride and caught up with me at the show afterward.
It was a great day for a ride and it became even better when Barbara decided to join me. We rode out to Slater Park to do the Ten Mile River bike path. It was busy in some spots but not too busy. We headed back to the house to finish with 11 miles and then I headed out for another hour. There seems to be more dogs this year chasing me and one has been a real pain. Now I love dogs, I've had them all my life, but there's no excuse for a dog to Chase a bicyclist. Today I had some Halt spray on me and lo and behold I got to use it on that one dog that's been a pain. He came right at me full speed and I let him have it with the spray, it worked like a charm. The dog headed right for his yard and started wiping his face on the grass trying to get it off. We'll see if he learned his lesson next time I go by his house.
I decided to head further south today into Barrington and turn onto a small section of the bike path, then head north. The problem was, I had a head wind for the first 12 miles. After that it was smooth sailing back to Rehoboth.
The weekend was a wash out, so I went to spinclass Sunday morning. I don't know if it was the breakfast I skipped or that I hadn't been to a class in eleven days, but I sucked big time. Oh well.
I only had about an hour to get this ride in, so I pushed myself more than I usually do. I had to meet Barbara for diner, for the new Fire Chief of Pawtucket. I made it just in time.
Barbara, showing her displeasure at me going the wrong way.
Here's where we had diner.
Warming up.
Pre game ceremonies.
Barbara & I went up to Boston Sunday night to have diner and to take in a Celtic's game. Tiffany & Tim sprung for the tickets for their mom's birthday. We got off the expressway at government center and headed for the parking garage. It's been a while since I've been in that area and proceeded to go up a one way street the wrong way to enter the garage. That didn't work and I had to bang an embarrassing Uturn. We finally parked and headed off to diner at the Union Oyster House. We had a great diner but very expensive. We headed to the game next, to finish off a great evening.
This road was closed in Bonnet Shores, but I still went through.
Jamestown bridge.
Entering URI.
Another perfect day to ride, this early in the season. I decided to combine two of our clubs Narragansett rides, hence, the NBW Narragansett Two For. It was 44 degree's at 8:45 when I started and 59 degree's when I finished at 1:00. There were plenty of great views all along the whole ride, so I was never bored.
